Having lost his wife and son to a tragic fire incident, writer Joseph Crone decides to leave for Barcelona to be with his estranged father and brother. He starts to become paranoid when certain strange occurrences happen around their home. All of these occurrences seem to have an odd connection with the number 11. Things become more bizarre as Joseph realises that most of the tragic events that have happened to him throughout his life also involve the number 11. With the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year looming close, Joseph must work to solve the mystery and avert any potential catastrophe.
With a title that looks somewhat like binary code i was'nt sure what to think of 11-11-11 before i saw it. Is this gonna be just another premonition horror with more cliches than i could shake a stick at? Well, it's not the most original of movies it's true but then 11-11-11 does offer a solid watch in many regards.
The characters are believable and the acting quality all round is decent enough. It's a good thing too cause i think this movie would have suffered greatly if dud actors had been put in place. Timothy Gibbs portrayal of Joseph Crone is a sincere one. He's a man torn, he's lost his faith in god and can't console his suffering, thus leaving him in a poor situation to take on the supernatural forces that are knocking on his door so to speak. Timothy manages to bring across his character's angst and confusion believably and for that i give him full kudos. The rest of the cast a good also with nobody letting the show down.
11-11-11 is a very eerie flick, it's not the kind of movie that sensitive religious types will enjoy, it's stacked full of demonic supernatural shenanigans and can really make you question your own emotions and thoughts on such lofty issue. In this regard it's brilliant movie. Any flick that can have you thinking about it after the movie has finished, is at the very least an OK movie in my book. I liked the movie's ending also, the twist that came was really quite clever i thought.
The movie isn't gory in the slightest, there's no nudity, it's a flick that plays some serious cards and indeed has the power to unnerve you if you can get into it. So i'm certainly gonna recommend this one. Here's hoping towards a great 11-11-11!
