Manic ex-military loner Jeffrey Walters (Steve Furedy) just cannot control his anger problem. Lashing out at the world for every wrong doing that inflicts him, he's taken down a dark path of murder and destruction. He doesn't just kill his victims, he tortures and terrorises them. The two cops assigned to catch him are an unlikely duo, one likes to shoot from the hip and the other likes to do things by the book. Together they have to work out who the murderer is and put an end to his grizzly wanton psychopathy.
The Eleventh Aggression is a low budget indie flick with very low level production values. A lot of the time it shows but the movie is elevated simply by the strength it's storyline. Some of the characters are a bit over the top for my liking, for example Det. Davidson (Patrick Adam) always seems to be a little too gung-ho to be believable. I wonder if any cop who behaved in such a head strong fashion would be able to survive in his job for one day, let alone years. He has a temper, although nowhere near as bad as the main antagonist Jeffrey Walters, who seems to be in a permanent state of anger.
The acting quality is a bit patchy, at times it's OK, other times it's a bit dreadful, though it never gets so bad that the movie gets uninteresting. Lanny Rethaber who plays Det. Garret, is arguably the best of the cast, conveying through his characters frustration and downright annoyance at not being able to catch his culprit. Garret is generally a nice guy but circumstances are working against him and well, his character ends up in right mess. Steve Furedy puts in a decent performance as Jeffrey, bringing the anger and inner loathing through with a real conviction.
One other element of The Eleventh Aggression worth mentioning is the gore. Some of the scenes are downright nasty, I won't spoil too much of what's in store but at the beginning of the movie the killer Jeffrey, pours drain cleaner down a woman's vagina effectively dissolving her insides. We don't get to see much of this truth be told, a lot of it's implied but it still makes for a nervy watch. Some of the later death scenes are more graphic and definitely more visceral.
The Eleventh Aggression reminded me a lot of a 90's movie called Falling Down starring Michael Douglas about a normal guy who goes off the rails and decides he ain't taking no more shit. Only difference is that The Eleventh Aggression is a lot nastier. Like, a lot nastier. To conclude if you wanna see a solid crime movie with blood n guts then this is yer movie. Perhaps best watched before a meal though ;)
The Eleventh Aggression is released through Chemical Burn Entertainment on the 11th of June.
