Dead Teenagers is an anthology movie made up of 4 different tales that involve weird 'psycho' men, vampires, werewolves and ghosts. As a guy is casually perusing the library aisles he stumbles upon a scrapbook that just so conveniently happens to fall on the floor as he's walking by. Curiosity gets the better of him and he decides to read the book at a nearby table. This is the point where we're introduced to the book's 4 main stories and as the reader progresses through, gives us his own over arching story, in typical horror anthology style.

This is an incredibly low budget flick, one of the cheapest looking movies I've seen for a long time. It has the feel of a Troma movie and it has the same qualities as a Troma movie. We love Troma, but sadly we don't love this. Dead Teenagers does have good points but really not enough. Firstly, budget. This is a micro budget movie that seems very ambitious in what it's trying to do, ie recreate werewolf, vampire and ghost stories. The special effects are very lame, it looks like kiddies day with the plasticine and paper mache. Just unconvincing in the extreme.

Secondly the acting quality across the board is abysmal. Truly bad. This is the kind of acting you see in amateur dramatic societies, in fact I might be insulting amateur dramatic societies by saying that. The actors say their lines like they're trying to remember them half the time and they seem very artificial physically. The camera work is decent enough i suppose, we see everything we should see and the general eeriness is carried through well.

As far as gore and shocks are concerned, just forget it. There is nothing in this movie that is really frightening. The old woman in the ghost story is kind of creepy mind you but meh it's going to take more than that. All in all i really can't recommend Dead Teenagers. We like to support independent filmmakers, but being independent won't get you off the hook with everything. Having said that the basic premise of the movie is sound and i think that had the budget been higher this flick could of turned out much much better. The pacing is decent and each story is just about the right length. Only hardcore movie fans will appreciate this, everyone else should really do something better with their 70 minutes.
