The ghoulies have been stolen by a christian do-gooder looking to rid the world of the pesky demonic flyweights once and for all. Thinking they can be dissolved in acid the poor old geezer finds himself taking one last dip as he ends up in said acid. With a touring carnival picking up nearby for some fuel, the ghoulies feel obliged to catch a free ride. Once the carnival is down the road and setup it's mayhem and frolics, as the carnival workers try to work out what's going on with the little critters, though the ghoulies aren't the only thing they'll have to contend with...
Ghoulies 2, arguably the best outing in the series, the movie sports a higher production value than it's predecessor and it's also (arguably) the grizzliest of the lot.
That's not to say that Ghoulies 2 is a scary movie, it is creepy in parts but it has a tongue in cheek quality about it that keeps it as much in the fun realm as in any other. There is a sequence or 2 that's really quite gory for a ghoulies flick but in my estimation the movie is better off for it.
The general acting quality is decent enough. We get to see one of the worlds best small-person actors, the man ghoulie, Phil Fondacaro as Sir Nigel Penneyweight. Honestly i'd say he stands out head over shoulders over the rest of the cast as the thespian worker with a chip on his shoulder. Phil we salute you sir! In terms of acting Ghoulies 2 is great.
The special effects are what you would expect for a 1980's horror. Stop and go motion is in and it's very old fashioned by modern standards but hey, so what? The fashion and the music is all very 1980's, it's a classic 1980's cheese fest but it's still quality.
Is Ghoulies 2 a movie worth watching? Well if you ain't guessed yet i'd definitely say yes, in fact this movie isn't a straight sequel to the original so you don't have to worry about watching number 1 first, though it won't hurt if you do. A fun piece of 1980's schlock horror, one definitely enjoyed best with beer and buddies.
