At a remote insanitarium a cannibalistic troupe manage to escape from their cell and release all their fellow inmates, what unfurls is chaos as all the staff members are slaughtered one by one. Years down the road a group of friends decide to get out into the snowy wilderness looking to have some fun. After a blizzard hits they find themselves taking shelter in the now decrepit insanitarium. Well it turns out the group of sadistic cannibals are still living there and i imagine you can pretty much work out for yourself what happens from that point onwards.
Wrong Turn 4 follows much in the footsteps of it's predecessors in that we have young things being stalked/terrorised/tortured and general nastiness abounds. It may be worth pointing out that this movie is actually a prequel to the original Wrong Turn, though i wouldn't say you have to watch the other movies to get straight into it.
The movies production standard is solid and most of the gore effects are very well done. If there's one area Wrong Turn 4 excels at it's gore, it's a very gory movie and it takes pleasure in showing us the teenage/20-something kids getting tortured in some horrid ways. Great stuff!
The acting quality overall is decent, nothing awesome but decent none the less. The cannibals are all behind makeup and only seem to make primitive grunting sounds so i can't say the actors there have a great chance to shine but they do bring through the physicality's of their characters well. It's mostly screaming from the rest of the cast, truth be told the characters aren't that interesting but they certainly die well.
Another thing this movie has quite a bit of is nudity, the female cast aren't shy about getting their clothes off and gratuitously so!
Wrong Turn 4 is far from the most original movie i've seen, it's very cliche ridden. Now that doesn't mean it's a bad movie, indeed it's not, it just feels like we're walking down the same road that's been trodden like a billion times already. If you want some gruesome horror that you can turn you mind off and simply enjoy then you may well like this. If your looking for something a bit different however, then you may want to pass up. To conclude it's not the worst movie this year but nowhere near the best; decidedly average overall.
